  • Description:  A hybrid pincushion protea from the University Hawaii breeding programme at their research station on Maui. It has a particularly large composition of 10 species parents in its genome parentage. The main ones are L. lineare, L. reflexum, L. cordifolium, L. saxosum and L. glabrum. The flower heads are medium-sized at 11.7 cm (4.6 in) across, and are carried on 62 cm (24 in) stems. They are a yellow shade with mauve tips initially and age to a rich orange. All colours and intermediate shadings may be seen together on the bush during the extended flowering period which commences in early February. The growth habit is spreading. Named for a well-known protea grower and floral designer from the Hawaiian island of Maui.
