- Title: Protea Niobe
- Description: A South African F2 hybrid, dating from the 1970’s. and widely grown in several parts of the world, particularly as a cut flower. The attractive floral bracts are a silvery-green with a touch of yellow, have deep, brownish black beards and surround a dark, reddish-brown central flower mass. These flower heads are generally produced from mid-winter to early spring on a dense, bushy shrub of 2 m x 2 m and have excellent lasting qualities when picked. This cultivar thrives in well-drained soils of various types and prefers sunny positions. A light pruning after flowering or regular picking of the flower stems will encourage a bushy growth habit.
