- Title: Grevillea ‘Robyn Gordon’ (G. banksii x G.bipinnatifida)
- Description: Probably the best known hybrid grevillea, this bushy shrub of 1.5 m high x 2 m or more wide is the very significant fore-runner of many similar successful crosses such as ‘Superb’, ‘Ned Kelly’, ‘Coconut Ice’, ‘Peaches and Cream’, etc. It thrives on hard pruning to maintain a bushier habit even springing away from a short stump when cut right back. The large, cylindrical flower racemes can be 15 cm long, are a pinkish-red shade and borne year-round. They have a plentiful supply of nectar to attract birds. Unusually frost-hardy to -5 ºC , drought tolerant oncewell established, happy in sun or semi-shade, it is not surprising that 50 years since its discovery ‘Robyn Gordon’ is still one of the best hybrid grevilleas.
