  • Description:  An attractive species with small leaves but prominent, large, cylindrical flower heads that are variable from deep, fawny-red or wine-red at the immature stage, maturing to gold although some less common forms are a golden-yellow colour. These may be up to 27 cm long are freely produced from late winter through spring to early summer and are bird attractive. Growth habit is densely bushy to 3 m or 4 m. A useful screening shrub and an attractive garden plant, it is surprisingly resistant to salt spray, making it useful for coastal gardens. Frost tolerant to about -3 ºC
