Clumps may reach 2.5m in height with a spread of more than 4m.Grows in damp situations and edges of lakes, streams. Has become naturalised in some countries where it is classified as an invasive plant or pest species. Flower spikes (illustrated) are large to 40cm or more in length. Frost tender herbaceous perennial.
