  • Title:  Banksia grandis, bull banksia, giant banksia
  • Description:  A spectacular species with sulphur yellow flower spikes 40 cm in length over spring/early summer. They appear like giant candles over the tree. The 50 cm long, deeply divided, leathery leaves are popular dried and fresh for floral work. In nature this species can attain 10 m in height, but less under cultivation. The attractive, low growing, semi-prostrate coastal forms have much potential. Well-drained soils and sunny positions are necessary for successful cultivation. Light frosts are tolerated.
