Banksia blechnifolia

Email

  • Title:  Banksia blechnifolia
  • Description:  This versatile, prostrate species from southern Western Australia. The branched stems are carried on the soil surface and the handsome foliage is held erectly, up to 45 cm in height. A mature bush may cover an area of 4 m in diameter and, with a mounding habit, may reach 75 cm in overall height. Striking 16 cm long cylindrical flower spikes appear in spring. They are a rich pink shade in bud, opening to a light red with conspicuous yellow pollen displayed on freshly opened flowers. This reliable, trouble-free banksia prefers well-drained soils, sunny positions and is tolerant of frosts to about -5 ºC.
