Some variants have flowers that are very wide, flat and open, others more closed and narrow in form. Growth habit variable from dwarf, prostrate, broadly spreading and bushy to erect at 2.5m. Leaves may be narrow or broad and leathery. More than 80 variants recognised. Sunny positions and well drained, acidic soils are required. Some frost tolerated.
