  • Title:  Aulax cancellata, syn. A.pinifolia - female seed cone, Channel-leaf featherbush
  • Description:  A distinctive, South African member of the Proteaceae. Female plants with their attractive funnel-shaped yellow flowers followed by clusters of distinctive, long-lasting deep-red seed cones are the most popular choice with nurseries and gardeners. Male plants with their colour yellow catkins are also popular, particularly in Australia. The narrow, linear foliage commences as a bright red shade maturing to deep green. Stems are also red. Height is generally 1 m (3.2 ft) or less if pruned after flowering, which is desirable to retain a compact habit. Unchecked they may reach an untidy 2 m (6.5 ft).
