Leucadendron Jester - L. salignum x L. laureolum hybrid

Email

  • Title:  Leucadendron Jester - L. salignum x L. laureolum hybrid
  • Description:  This well known cultivar is a mutation or ‘sport’ from a branch of ‘Safari Sunset’. Similar mutations have been observed and propagated and have been marketed under the names ‘Safari Sunshine’ and ‘Katie’s Blush’, the latter being a mutation from ‘Silvan Red’ which in itself is similar to ‘Safari Sunset’. Less vigorous than the parent plants, these variegated forms rarely exceed 1.5 m in height and tend to be bushier, spreading to a similar width. The foliage and bract colour is the traditional rich red but with a prominent green stripe through the centre. Young growth is predominately pink. This very distinctive and hardy cultivar is showy as a garden plant and is widely used as cut flower and foliage material. Cultivation requirements are as for ‘Safari Sunset’.
