  • Description:  Originating from south-east South Australia and south-west Victoria, this species is forms a bushy shrub of 2.5 m – 3 m high. The squat, cylindrical flower heads up to 14 cm in length vary in colour from greyish yellow to golden bronze and are produced over winter and spring. They are noted for having pollen high in protein and accordingly are sought-after by beekeepers. The copius nectar is also popular with bees and birds. Sandy or light, well-drained soils and open sunny positions are required for successful cultivation. Light frost is tolerated.
