Protea Coleman’s Hybrid (P. magnifica hybrid)

Email

  • Title:  Protea Coleman’s Hybrid (P. magnifica hybrid)
  • Description:  A particularly attractive cultivar originating from New Zealand in the late 1970’s from imported P. magnifica seed. The other seed parent is thought be P. compacta. It is unfortunately not as widely grown as it once was due to its large size of 3 m in height by an almost equal spread, but it nevertheless has very beautiful flower heads on long stems, produced freely over spring and early summer. They last well when picked and accordingly have good cut flower potential. Generally frost-hardy to -4 ºC when established and easily grown in well-drained soils in both inland and coastal situations.
